Summer Love Rub-Ons

Well, Thursday came and went, but I did get to do some stamping in the evening.  I was going to post a Pop-Up card made with our new 3 Tier Cake Die, but I didn't quite get it done the way I would have liked it to have been, so that will be saved for a later date.  Meanwhile here is a fun card using the new Summer Love Rub-Ons from the Occasions Mini Catalogue. 

All the images on the Whisper White Card Stock are Rub-ons.  I added some paper-piercing above and below the Whisper White Card Stock and then adhered a Baja Breeze flower die from the Blooms Again Die Cuts (pg 181 IB&C) along with a 1 3/8" Kiwi Kiss textured circle. I stamped and cut out a Kiwi Kiss butterfly from the Dear Friend stamp set and embellished it with a Basic Grey Corduroy Button.  The main card is Cameo Coral Textured Card Stock. Wonderful Wednesday!

What a beautiful day we had.  Some of my gardening got done today (not by me of course) and it is looking great.  I love this time of year, seeing my garden grow from the ground up.  I look forward to seeing how different it will look in only one week. 

Now onto today's project. 

Do you have an occasion where you need a special gift?  Well, this wonderful card tin makes a great gift.  

This is a card tin that I decorated for the annual Controllers for Cancer Auction.  This was actually the first tin I have ever done like this considering I have had a couple sitting on my shelf for awhile :) It was very easy to do and a lot of fun.  I managed to fit in 25 cards with dividers.   

 I cut two 3"x12" pieces of Designer paper for the top portion of the tin and two 1 1/2" x 12" for the lower portion of the tin.  I attached the strips to the tin with Mod Podge and a foam brush. I also applied Mod Podge on top of the paper as well to make it more durable.   I cut out a notch from one of the top pieces of Designer Paper to compensate for the latch on the tin. 

I cut out Designer Paper in the shape of the top of the tin and cut out the handle openings.  I Mod Podged the top just as I did the rest of the tin.  I decorated the top with ribbon on the handles and some dyed flower and beads from the Pretties Kit. 

The front of the box was decorated with ribbon and some chipboard letters that I coloured with Ballet Blue Craft Ink.  I dyed the large flower using my aquapainter and Bashful Blue Classic Ink.  The accent in the center of the flower is a 3/4" So Saffron circle along with a half pearl from the Pretties Kit. 

I made some dividers that were 4 3/8" x 6 1/2" and I added a Tab by punching some scraps of Card Stock with the Round Tab Punch.  You could stamp the titles on the tab, but I just went ahead and wrote the heading that went with the cards that I put in the box.  You could pretty much do anything.  

You can use these tins for a Recipe Box as well and we have a great stamp set called "From the Kitchen Of" that would work really well.  The possibilities are endless.  All you need is a little bit of imagination.  Happy crafting! 

Tuesday already?

Yesterday was such a busy day I didn't get a chance to post.  I had my husband departing for a week and my in-laws coming in to help me out for a few days, so it was a bit of a crazy day. I was on my feet way too much and paid for it in the evening.  Who could resist the gorgeous weather we had though.  It was such a nice day that I just had to get out of the house.  I took a trip to the bus stop in a wheelchair!  Today is a bit better, so here I am.  

The card I would like to share with you today is also using the Stamp Set Soft Summer from the Occasions Mini Catalogue.  This wasn't a stamp set I was planning on purchasing initially because I have so many quite similar to it, but I really like the versatility of this style of stamp set, so of course I couldn't resist.  Some of the techniques you can do with this type of stamp set are: 2-step stamping, watercolouring, watercolour crayons direct to the stamp, poppin' pastels, markers direct to the stamp, crayon resist on glossy paper and I am sure there are so many others.

"Soft Summer" Sunday

I hope you are all having a nice weekend.  We have been enjoying the nice weather despite a bit of rain and I have even been for a trip around in the block in my wheelchair.  My feet are healing and I am walking around a bit more, but still have to be careful not to overdue it.  Still quite a bit of pain at times.  

I decided that today I would share a card that I made at the London Regional Seminar back in March.  I used the watercolour crayons direct on the stamp and then lightly misted the stamp with water before stamping it.  I then stamped over the image with the outline stamp of the same image.  I used the Eyelet Border Punch on the Designer Paper and accented the image with a Chocolate Chip 1/2" Library Clip.  Hope you like it!

The Time has come!!!

After 7 posts, lots of links, backgrounds, font colours and everything else I have been playing with while setting up this blog, I think the time has finally come to share it with all of you.  I decided to start a blog to share my love for stamping and to provide a place for you to go to be inspired. Customized Matchbox Treat Box

One more Easter Treat Box and then we are moving on, I promise!  I just had so much fun creating this box that I just had to share!  Have you ever had a particular item that you wanted to wrap in an unique way?  Well, this was just the case for a chocolate bunny that I had purchased at Dollarama.  I measured the length, width and height of my item and then created this matchbox style box for it.  Do you want to see inside?

Window Sheets and the Big Shot

I haven't yet used the window sheets on a card, but I thought it would be fun to try them out in the Big Shot to make a box.  This little pillow box was made during my Easter class.  It was hard packaging up the jelly beans since they taste soooo good, but we knew they would make a nice little gift to give away.  This type of box would also make a great party/wedding favour.
